If anger is upsetting you.

If someone else is affecting you.

If you want to do something about it.


TRY THIS!


(It will take two minutes max.)


STEP 1:

IF your thoughts are something like this:


      I got angry because GEORGE lied.

      I got angry because JERRY disrespected me.

      I got angry because BILL stole my tie.

      I got angry because MARTHA had an affair.


        Other people have been controlling you.


STEP 2:

IF your thoughts are something like this:


      I got angry because THE MONEY was gone.

      I got angry because IT was taking too damn long.

      I got angry because THEY didn’t fix the car right.

      I got angry because WHAT HAPPENED wasn't fair.


        Events have been controlling you.


STEP 3:

IF your thoughts are something like this:


      I got angry because I EXPECTED...

      I got angry because I ASSUMED...

      I got angry because I THOUGHT...

      I got angry because I DIDN’T...

      I got angry because I DIDN’T WANT...


        You can take control RIGHT NOW.



FOR EXAMPLE:


        If you are thinking, "I am angry because George lied."

        You can take control by saying out loud, right now:


        “I am angry because I realized I shouldn’t have trusted him.”

        “I am angry because I should have been prepared for that.”


OR


        Take what ever it is that you are angry at and say out loud:


        I am angry because I EXPECTED        (fill in the truth)        

        I am angry because I THOUGHT        (fill in the truth)         

        I am angry because I ASSUMED        (fill in the truth)         

        I am angry because I DIDN’T          (fill in the truth)         

        I am angry because I DIDN’T WANT TO    (fill in the truth)  


Fill in the blank, say it out loud, and see if it makes a difference.



TRY IT. I dare you.


If you don't say it out loud it won't work. And you may have to go over the five statements several times around with additional answers to get in control. If you didn't say it out loud, or give all the answers, try it again. It won’t take more than a minute.
